Preschool Policies

Illness

If your child has any of the following symptoms, we ask that you do not bring your child to church. We want to protect your child, other preschoolers and the teachers from unnecessary exposure to illness.

  • Fever – currently or within the previous 24 hours
  • Vomiting or diarrhea – even associated with teething or medical condition
  • Common cold – from onset through one week
  • Runny nose with yellow/greenish discharge
  • Sore throat
  • Croup
  • Any unexplained rash
  • Any symptom of childhood disease (such as scarlet fever, measles, mumps, chicken pox, whooping cough, strep throat, flu, or any infectious or contagious disease)
  • Fifth disease
  • Skin infection – (such as impetigo, boils, ringworm)
  • Eye infection – pink eye or drainage (All eye diseases are contagious. The child must be on medication for 24 hours before entering the classroom.)
  • Persistent cough
  • Any communicable disease

If your preschooler develops any of these symptoms/conditions while in our care, we will notify you immediately.  When in doubt, please apply the “Golden Rule.” Your cooperation is essential to the well-being of your child and the other children at Cypress Baptist Church.

What We Ask of Parents

  • In the Babies and Ones rooms, we ask that only one parent drop off and pick up your child. Teachers will greet you at the door to take your baby and bring your baby to you and gather belongings at pick up time. This keeps other babies from getting upset by strangers coming into room.
  • Please label all items brought by your preschooler – especially diaper bags.
  • Please do not send toys with your preschooler. Preschoolers are not good at sharing and often get upset if other children try to play with or break their toys.
  • We pray you will help us when necessary by volunteering in Bible Study or Extended Teaching Care.

Safety and Security

Our preschoolers are loved and valued. For their protection and for parents’ peace of mind, we have a security system in place.  We also do background checks on all our preschool and children volunteers. All volunteers must pass the state and national investigation.

For babies through twos, the child and parent are each given a bracelet with a matching number. Parents must present their bracelet and teacher must check matching numbers before preschooler is released.  Parents are also given a vibrating pager to wear for the morning which is to be returned when picking up child. Parents will be paged for illness, injury or excessive crying.
